What is Humor (part1/2)

What is Humor?

While interviewing various students on their opinions on humor common themes occurred. Many students went for the basic and obvious answer, that humor is something funny, or something that makes you laugh. Occasionally, student got creative and went for the more original posts, claiming humor was something along the lines of "looking and being able to laugh at the ridiculousness of everyday lives" or "a switch from the expected to the unexpected" - which another student referred to as 'cognitive shift.' In my personal opinion, humor can vary for each individual. What one finds humor may not be humorous for another. For example, any joke that refers to anything relating to the bathroom or bodily functions I will automatically shutter at. While children hysterically laugh at the simple word "poop," I never partook in said humor, and therefore disgusting references for me are not humorous. For some humor may be the obvious puns, for others humor may be more in witnessing the clumsy pain in another individual. In truth, I believe humor  - to supply a definition - is an escape from the seriousness into a brief moment of light-hearted relaxation. This post was intended to be tagged alongside with a video I made with people's various responses to the question "What is Humor." However, due to technical problems I have yet to conquer or for that matter understand, such video will not posted at this time. Instead, I will hopefully be able to post the video when my computer cooperates with my every command. And my computer's incompetency, for that matter, is not humorous. I find no escape into carefreeness. For some, my frustrations may be entirely humorous....due to the fact that this is not their struggle. So for now, I am ending my discussion of humor on that note. For further definitions on the word humor, my video post will be up shortly. <3
